This years Village Fair will be held on Saturday 18th June 2011 and kicks off at 12.30pm with the opening parade.

The Village meeting is an important event as Ballynure has been identified as a village to be targeted for funding from the GROW programme.

Well ‘Spring’ has finally arrived in Ballynure. The ‘Crocuses’ and ‘Snowdrops’ are in show and the ‘Tulips’ and ‘Daffodils’ are not far behind.
Its been over a year since the last revamp of the website, so I thought a little ‘Spring Cleaning’ may be in order. This new theme has a more rustic feel to it more in keeping with village life.
Support for new ‘Touchscreen Phones’ such as iPhone, Android and Blackberry Touch phones has been added

A St Patrick’s night Hooley will be held at Ballynure Presbyterian Church With Herbie & Ella Mawhinney. Contact the Presbyterian Church Office or Richard Wallace for tickets. The evening costs £7 and will include Stew and a dessert as well as great night out. All proceeds are in aid of Church Funds

. The Presbyterian Manse has been knocked down to make way for a new replacement Manse. The old one literally disappeared overnight!

The DRD proposes to dual the A8 between the Hillhead Road roundabout and the Ballyrickard road. The Dept will publish an environmental statement ref vesting orders etc. in local papers between 19th and 28th january 2011.
Everyone is invited to a public exhibition of the proposals which will be held in the Corr’s Corner Hotel, 315 Ballyclare Road, Newtownabbey 0n 25th & 26th January 2011 from 2pm to 9pm. Click on the picture to take you to the DRD Website for further details of the proposed plans etc

After 5 days of snow, temperatures dropped even further last night down to -16°c and there is no likelyhood of a thaw until sunday. Brrrrrr!

Overnight and today saw the heaviest fall of snow in Northern Ireland for 25 years. Ballynure had in or around 7″ of snow which is due to remain for most of the weekend. The Castle road was particularly bad for cars to get up. See the Gallery for pictures round and about the village
